Salford 5200 Enforcer Replaces The Case 875

What a beautiful week of weather we have had, I think every combine in the country is running this week and both beans and corn get harvested. We spent our week anywhere from southern Ohio, Illinois, Central Indiana and everywhere in between delivering tools to customers. We did a lot of fertilizer spreader startups getting patterns flat, getting cover crop seeders up and going across the country. Elliot and Cody headed west to install a Valmar 6056 on a tillage tool for fall seeding. We delivered a Salford 2224 with shanks down to Brian Family Farms this week, and I am sure you will see that unit on YouTube videos soon. With this great weather, we have been heavy on the demo train demoing Salford VRTs and 5200s. Today Cody is demoing a 1224 here locally and also strip till units. Depending on the weather over the next 3 weeks, we may host a field day early November to take advantage of the early harvest and great weather to get guys together to see a plethora of equipment running. Next week, we head to PA to install a Valmar 6056 seeder on a 20' Krause. Stay tuned for that install.

Halo VRT with a 5056 cover crop seederThis past weekend I seeded my wheat using this Halo VRT with a 5056 seeder mounted on it. Here's a video breaking down how well it worked.

In the video below, I am seeding wheat with a 25’ Halo VRT at 135 lbs per acre. I made 2 passes with this tool and the variable blade angle played a huge part in seeding as I had different amounts of residue across the field.

Why is the 5200 Replacing the Case 875?

Salford 5200 Enforcer

You have heard the saying, "tillage can breed more tillage." Meaning aggressive tillage means more tillage down the road, and this is a conversation we have weekly with guys running deep shank rippers. But why? When you run 10/12/15" deep in the fall, you rip out the bottom of your fields, meaning you sink in the spring. You bring your 1795 into fall chiseled ground and created instant ruts, which then will require more tillage to get those ruts out that were created from last fall tillage. So it is a vicious cycle of tillage ripping out the bottom continuously. The 5200 does as much or more burying of the residue, but keeps that firm bottom, we basically manage the top 5-7" without disrupting the bottom beneath. This has been a huge success and has brought the 5200 Enforcer to be the most popular Salford tool in the lineup.
