Hopefully everyone was blessed with some amount of precipitation this week! We had around 1" of rain Monday PM/Tuesday AM and it sure was needed. Pollination is in full force in many areas across the state and before long it will be time for dairies to start chopping silage. We are starting to get really busy with Valmar cover crop seeders, we have 3 or 4 installs to do in Illinois on John Deere, Krause, and Salford VT Tools.
Looking for a better closing system? Poly Or Cast?
Yetter has been leading the way with closing wheel options for several years. This year they once again have a great proven product. The poly spike closing wheel everyone has come to love is now available in a cast version! So now which one is best for you? The poly spike closing wheel is great in all conditions, the lightweight design keeps in from compacting the area around the seed, however, they can tend to wear faster than some would like. The cast version does all of this great things offered in the poly Twister but with the longevity of cast. Stay tuned for videos to come.

Over the past 3 years we have been perfecting the cover crop seeding method that is Inter Seeding into standing corn. Incorporation plays a big factor into the success at this stage. We designed a row unit to perfect the incorporation of cover crops. The S2S unit is a parallel linkage, hydraulic downforce unit that contains 5 blades to disrupt the soil, then a roller to firm the seed and soil. These units are now available for sale through Fennig Equipment. Look for more pics and videos in the future of these units in the future
